Gary works on the European Social Innovation Competition. Now in its 7th year, the Competition acts as a beacon for social innovators in Europe, employing a proven methodology for supporting early-stage ideas and facilitating a network of radical innovators shaping society for the better. Each year the Competition is based around a different issue facing Europe.

Gary is passionate about empowering those with lived experience of social problems take the lead in developing and implementing solutions. Before joining Nesta he worked for youth volunteering charity vInspired, supporting the design and delivery of a new volunteer recognition programme. Prior to this he worked for the social sector start-up Generation Change.

In his spare time he interviews social entrepreneurs for the Impact Boom podcast, and volunteers as part of the faculty at Allia’s Future Business Centre in Hackney. He is also a novice skateboarder.
